Post 198 of 228

Amazon.com has defined “romance” in a unique way based on its sales data of romance novels and relationship books (both Kindle and print), romantic comedy movies (DVDs and digital), Barry White and Luther Vandross CDs and sexual wellness products on a per capita basis in cities with more than 100,000 residents. The top 20 most romantic U.S. cities are:

  1. Alexandria, Virginia
  2. Miami, Florida
  3. Knoxville, Tennessee
  4. Orlando, Florida
  5. Vancouver, Washington
  6. Cincinnati, Ohio
  7. Columbia, South Carolina
  8. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
  9. Round Rock, Texas
  10. Ann Arbor, Michigan
  11. Atlanta, Georgia
  12. Salt Lake City, Utah
  13. Scottsdale, Arizona
  14. Everett, Washington
  15. Gainesville, Florida
  16. Seattle, Washington
  17. Wilmington, North Carolina
  18. Rochester, New York
  19. Dayton, Ohio

More statisics:

  • Virginia really is for lovers. Alexandria reclaimed its position as the nation’s most romantic city after five heartbreaking years out of the top spot.
  • Number three Knoxville is keeping up its reputation as a city of love, ranking in the top three for the past five years in a row. It was number one in 2012, 2013 and 2015.
  • Love is in the air in Washington. Four cities made the 2016 list: Vancouver (number 5), Everett (number 14), Seattle (number 16) and Bellevue (number 20).
  • Even though they have romantic names, these cities didn’t make the list: Loveladies, New Jersey; Handsome Eddy, New York; Loveland, Colorado; Loving, Kentucky; Valentine, Nebraska; Sweet Lips, Tennessee; and Romance, West Virginia.
